Bodies of three men who drowned following a baptism ceremony at Snake Park recovered.
Three men’s bodies that perished in the water after being baptized at Snake Park in Soweto have been found. While carrying out the ceremony, the 24 to 30 year old males perished in a river.
In less than a month, Johannesburg has experienced not one but two baptism-related drowning incidents. Early this month, 15 remains were pulled from the Jukskei River, but the body of a three-month-old infant is still missing.
Nana Radebe, a spokesperson for Johannesburg EMS, explains: Upon arrival, we discovered that three male adults between the ages of 24 and 30 had perished during a baptism process. We’re warning individuals to exercise extreme caution. This is the second time in four weeks that a baptism ritual has occurred and people have drowned.
