Miss Mpumalanga 2022 crowned
Lungile Fakude (24) is Miss Mpumalanga 2022. She was crowned at a glittering event on Saturday night, 9 April at Communio Church in Mbombela.
Lungile from Mshadza near Masoyi, works at a psychiatric hospital and holds a honours degree in occupational health. She is pursuing a post graduate diploma in Public Health.
She beat other nine finalists to secure the Miss Mpumalanga title, taking the reigns from Claude Mashego.
The Mpumalanga queen walked away with a new car, a bursary, gadgets and other items.
She said she would use the platform to start conversations that will help bring about change on the negative impact of substance abuse to one’s mental health.
“We need to talk and make changes from an early age which is when most people are exposed to drugs. As a society, there are many social issues that we are facing in the province,” she said.
She said Mpumalanga is a rich province with many wise minds, who are capable of tackling those issues.
“We need to start asking about our social issues in order to find the root causes. I believe I do my share to bring about those changes,” she said.
