Good news for South Africans about Coronavirus vaccine
Final our government has finally made its down payment for the Covid vaccine program, after missing the payment more than once, leading to public outcry after it missed a December 15 deadline to make a deposit to secure vaccines to fight the virus
SA recorded 339 deaths related to Covid-19 year, taking the national death toll from the pandemic to 25,246. The newly recorded deaths, 142 were in the Western Cape, 107 in the Eastern Cape, 45 in KwaZulu-Natal, 30 in Gauteng, eight in the Free State and seven in Limpopo. National Department of Health together with the Solidarity Fund announced the country’s down payment of R283 million to international vaccine alliance, Gavi. The payment is 15% of the vaccine programme’s total cost and will enable 10% of South African (6 million people) to be vaccinated.
