Manaka Ranaka suggests that a movie be made about Thabo Bester’s prison break for the South African film industry.

The actress isn’t the first to address the adoption, but her statements seem more deliberate given that she has already cast Dineo Langa and Kevin Khathutshelo in the parts of Thabo and his rumored lover.

Manaka says that if the industry doesn’t embrace the now-international tale, the Americans will surely do so and profit from it.

R@pist and murderer Thabo Bester escaped prison since 2022 but was finally caught in April 2023 in Tanzania, alongside his alleged lover Dr Nandipha who aided his escape from the prison.

Thabo Bester, a convicted murderer and r@pist, has been returned to Kgosi Mampuru Prison.

This comes after his Friday appearance at the Mangaung Magistrates Court.

Along with him, his girlfriend Nandipha Magudumana was taken into custody in Tanzania.

Bester has raised concerns about his safety in the custody of Correctional Services.

“It is important to also state that the mandate of Correctional Services is not simply just to house and rehabilitate inmates, it is also about their safety, of inmates, officials and of people who come into our correctional centres so if there was any threat to his life, we have to make it a point that such is eliminated and that he is safe,” said the department’s spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo.

Bester at this stage faces a charge of escaping from lawful custody, defeating the ends of justice, violation of a dead body, and fraud.
