Mohale Advocates Against GBV
Mohale has been doing pretty well even after some social media users doubted he would thrive after separating from his estranged husband, media personality Somizi Mhlongo. The influencer turned businessman has been enjoying some travels, signing good brand partnerships and now, he is strongly advocating against Gender Based Violence (GBV), a pandemic that’s taken the country by storm for a few years now. Mohale joined the youth of Katlegong today for a march against GBV and shared the whole journey on his socials.
The 26-year-old digital media personality joined the non-profit organization at the forefront of fighting GBV, Act Now Africa today for a 5 KM march and gender-based violence safety awareness in Thokoza Katlegong. The “Conquer GBV” march started at 10 AM until 2 PM from Sam Ntuli Stadium around Thokoza and Covid protocols were observed.
Mohale, who has also shared his own unfortunate journey as a domestic violence victim was seen, thanks to Instagram, walking with a joyful youth of Katlehong earlier today. The social media influencer shared with his 1.2 million followers all that happened during the walk and also urged them to also support the course against GBV as he tagged the Act Now Africa Instagram account for many to not only follow but learn more about.
Mohale has been subjected to a whole lot of cyberbullying especially on Twitter since the beginning of his relationship with his estranged husband. He has been called a gold digger, a heist, and many names that suggest that he was in a relationship with the Idols SA judge for money. But, he started getting some love and support after reports around his abuse allegations against television and radio presenter Somizi Mhlongo with users making the hashtag #IStandWithMohale viral and calling Somizi out.
The pair reportedly broke up in 2019. And an audio recording of Mohale speaking explicitly about his experience being married to Somizi was leaked and first published by City Press last year in August. In the audio believed to have been a conversation with Legend Manqele who produced for Somizi, Mohale revealed that he experienced physical and psychological abuse in their relationship. He said Somizi started abusing him just a few weeks into the relationship.
He opened up about an incident where Somizi allegedly broke his ribs and almost broke his two teeth at their home in 2019
However, Somizi has since shared his side of the story two weeks ago when season 5 of his reality tv show Living The Dream With Somizi premiered on Showmax. Speaking on a call with his friend Vusi Nova, Somizi said that he was not surprised about the “false” allegations Mohale publicized. He further insinuated that the influencer was lying, and trying to use his name for his own personal financial and game gains.
Mohale has not responded to the backlash he’s been receiving since Somizi’s show aired and is focusing on building his own brand outside Somgaga’s shadow. He has also shared on several occasions that he has grown a thick skin where social media hate is concerned.
