Paul Mashatile’s Eight VIP Officers To Be Formally Arrested

Paul Mashatile’s Eight VIP Officers To Be Formally Arrested. Eight VIP protection unit policemen will be formally arrested on Sunday in connection with an assault on the N1 highway, according to the Independent Police Investigation Directorate.

“Ipid investigators will be processing the eight VIP protectors at the Sandton police station following authorization by the Director of Public Prosecution in this regard.

“The eight members will be held at the Sandton police station until appearing at the Randburg magistrate’s court on Monday morning,” Ipid national spokesperson Robbie Raburabu said.

Since they have not been officially charged, the officers’ names have been withheld.

After a horrifying attack was depicted in a video that went viral on social media, an investigation was started.

On camera, team members of vice president Paul Mashatile were seen beating three unarmed passengers in a VW Polo as they traveled from Johannesburg to Pretoria.

Infantryman L’vaughn Fisher, 25, one of the casualties, has retained legal representation and intends to sue the police for R1 million.

The other two men are military trainees.

The victims allegedly described a black SUV pulling up next to their car, with one of the occupants brandishing a weapon at the victim’s car, according to the South African National Defence Union.

The victims’ car was then surrounded by several cars and dragged information to the left side of the N1 freeway.

They claimed that the SUV drivers exited their vehicles, surrounded the victims’ cars, and made an attempt to break the windscreen. After failing, the attackers broke the back glass and attacked the people inside.
