Popular SA singer arrested for murder
An artist is one of six suspects arrested for the murder of Kgaogelo Maake. The 23-year-old was shot after a drinking spree at a house in Morutji Village, outside Tzaneen in Limpopo, on 1 March.
Maake was taken to hospital where she died on arrival and the suspects, aged between 22 and 44, went on the run.
They were arrested on Tuesday, 17 May.
The musician was hiding at his aunt’s house in Mohlakamosoma Village, outside Bolobedu.
Further investigation led to the arrest of two women and a man.
They are accused of defeating the ends of justice after allegedly hiding the suspect’s firearm in Relela Village. The firearm was recovered with its serial number filed off.
Limpopo police spokesman Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said: “Two of the suspects have been charged with possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition. The firearm will be taken for ballistic testing to determine if it was used in the commission of other crimes.”
The suspects are expected to appear in the Tzaneen Magistrates Court soon.
