Probe launched after Grade 1 dies in mobile toilet.

A Grade 1 student’s death is being looked into by the Free State police after it was claimed that he got stuck in a portable toilet window.

At Caleb Motshabi Primary School in Bloemfontein, Free State, the incident happened on Friday.

Four students were playing in the portable restrooms during break time, according to a statement from Tate Makgoe, MEC of the Free State Department of Education.

One of the students is said to have locked the toilet door after closing it.

The child who was confined to the bathroom made an attempt to leave through the window. His head became stuck and he was hanging, but he was able to get his body out of the window.

His body was taken from the bathroom and declared dead once it was in the classroom.

Officials from the psychosocial unit have been dispatched to the school to provide counseling to the students and instructors who have been impacted by the occurrence.

“We would like to send our heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased learners, Caleb Motshabi Primary School community, especially learners who might have witnessed this tragic incident,” Makgoe said.

“May they find comfort in knowing that we too share their pain and sorrow.”
