Sonia Mbele’s Son Reportedly In Rehab Following Abuse Allegations.

In an interview with Drum, actress Sonia Mbele disclosed that her son was already in rehab. She claimed that the abuse episode that went viral on social media earlier this month occurred, and he was immediately taken to rehab.

In response to her ex’s allegations of abuse against her son, Sonia issued a statement. She had said she would send her kid to rehab and let the legal system work its course.

She told Drum magazine that the incident occurred on November 4, at the beginning of the month, and that her son is already in rehab.

“This did not happen on Tuesday, it happened on 4 November, and I immediately sent my son to rehab the following day. So, by the time this became public, he was already away.”

She then clarified that she was not talking about her ex husband, Lesley Sedibe when she mentioned the line: “I refuse to raise a man like his father”

“I did not mention names, I did not speak about my ex-husband. I would never do that to Lesley. I was talking about Donell’s father but people just I assumed I was talking about Lesley.

“I met Lesley when I was 28 years old. What I am not going to do though, is sit down with people and go through the maths,” she added.

Sonia declared in her statement that she disagreed with what Donell did and will take action to make things right.

“I do not stand for, support or condone such [a] stance. These are struggles I’ve spoken about extensively in my early career to encourage other women in similar situations.”

Sonia mentioned Reokeditswe Makete, her son’s ex and said nothing has changed between them.

“I not only welcomed Reokeditswe Makete into my home but I treated her as a daughter and I worked with her in support of her career in the entertainment industry, and right now I would like to reassure her that she still has my love and full support.

“As a mother I wish she had come to me to inform me on what was going on because finding out on social media broke my heart. I’ve always been there, I’ve always been supportive,” she added.

“I now realise I should have taken preventative measures much earlier such as counseling and/or child therapy, but sometimes the mistake we tend to make as African single mothers is to assume and hope things will work out for the best meanwhile certain past behaviors can affect generations to come. ”

Sonia then expressed that she would like her son Donell to face the music, “With that said Donell will face his demons and take accountability for his actions and let the law take its course. I refuse to raise a man like his father. Rehab, therapy and internal healing will prevail,” she concluded and also thanked South Africans.
