Top 100 Best Crime Movies of All Time

What are the best movies about criminals? If you want to win an Academy Award or any other major award, you should portray a real life criminal on screen, according to a famous inside quote. Most of the awards for Best Supporting and Best Actor are for portraying real life mobsters in crime movies. Crime movies are cult and critics favorite, but also do good business at the box office. In crime movies, an actor has to portray a wide range of emotions and sometimes in a single scene, so he/she has to be versatile. The Best Hollywood Actors of All Time include Robert DiNero, Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Daniel Day Lewis, and Sean Penn who have all portrayed real life mobsters.

I have always been a fan of crime movies. The drama and life portrayals of mobsters on screen are controversial. The 1920s were the earliest years of the crime genre. The Public Enemy, which starred James Cagney, is said to be the first and most popular crime film. There were many movies in the crime genre after that. Criminal movies have a huge fan base for actors.

In almost every crime film, the mobster has a rich lifestyle and is feared by the society and the system, but it is also shown that he has a treasure of money. Many actors were attracted to this genre because villains were portrayed as heroes in crime films.

Here is a list of the 100 greatest crime films. I have tried to include more than just gangster movies, but also other sub genres of crime such as crime comedy, crime action, crime mob, crime heist, and crime drama. There are a lot of crime movies in the list.

The list of the 100 most popular crime movies is below.
