Two more arrested for murder of Mayor Moses Maluleke.

Two additional suspects will join the list of suspects accused of gunning down Collins Chabane Local Municipality Mayor Moses Maluleke.

Two more suspects were taken into custody for Maluleke’s savage killing and the gunshot of his 18-year-old son.

The two suspects were located on Friday by the police team created to look into the murder of the mayor of Collins Chabane and the attempted murder of his son. Ages 46 and 47 of the two other suspects,

“One of the suspects was arrested in Thohoyandou and the other in Saselamani.”

On Monday, the two are scheduled to appear at the Malamulele Magistrate’s Court. They are accused of murder, murder-related conspiracy, attempted murder, and possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.

Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, the commissioner of the Limpopo Provincial Police, praised the team for the thorough investigations. She expressed gratitude to the locals for consistently helping the police battle crime.

The recently detained accused will join 42-year-old Avhatakali Mulaudzi and 47-year-old Shumani Nemadodzi. On Wednesday, the two had appeared before the Malamulele Magistrate’s Court.

However, after their appearance, they decided to withdraw their bail applications, according to Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, a spokesman for the Limpopo National Prosecuting Authority.

“The matter is adjourned to 19 September for further investigations.”

On Thursday, July 21, 2022, Maluleke was in his house in the village of Shikundu. An armed gang barged into the mayor’s house and started harassing him and his 18-year-old son.

Maluleke received a money demand from the intruders. However, the armed suspects’ demands were not followed by the mayor and his son, according to police spokesperson Colonel Athlenda Mathe.

The armed men opened fire on Maluleke and his son as a result of their rejection.

“The mayor succumbed to his injuries on the scene and his son survived.”

Maluleke was laid to rest on 2 August.
