Unathi Nkayi, a South African media celebrity, was compelled to delete an inappropriate post in which she was photographed rubbing shoulders with Eswatini’s Queen Mother. During her visit to Swaziland, she had the opportunity to meet and pose with her. However, after witnessing how upset the majority of her followers were, she had to take the post down.
Unathi was seen kneeling next to the Queen mother in the photo, which was accompanied by a short caption.
She expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to be in her presence, adding she will remember the event for the rest of her life.
“I had the honour and privilege of being allowed an audience with her majesty the Queen Mother this weekend. An experience I will cherish for the rest of my life. A moment of beauty grace, honour, and dignity, wrapped in a blanket of tender love and a deep knowledge of who we are as a Nguni, Bantu people.
“A ceremony she held and led in honour of her granddaughter Princess Temaswati as the matriarch of the Swati Kingdom,” she wrote.
However, her post was met with a lot of reaction and negative feedback. She deleted the post rather than disregarding the response and appearing stupid by not responding to the negativity.
When questioned why she did it, Unathi told a local publication that she was worried about how others would respond and how they would be affected, so she did the right thing and deleted the post.
“I deleted the post because I see how much it hurt people. I am always concerned with how people feel and that spoke to me. It’s not about the backlash being warranted or not. People explained to me what’s going on and I did what I thought was right which is to delete,” she told the publication
