“Monuments that glorify our divisive past must therefore be moved and relocated. This has caused controversy with some believing that we are trying to erase our history.

“However, building a truly non-racial society means that we must be sensitive to the lived experiences of all South Africans. We will not make excuses for that, because our main goal is to build a united nation. “

Ramaphosa further said that the fight against apartheid was also aimed at restoring the dignity of all citizens, “black and white”, and that it was also one of the main priorities of his administration.

Ramaphosa also mentioned the Clicks advert. “We still have a long way to go” Ramaphosa said.
