Netflix announced a five-part Docu-Series on slain soccer star Senzo Meyiwa. The Docuseries will focus on the events leading up to Senzo’s death and what some of his close family members think happened on the night of his death.

Senzo Meyiwa was a Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper.

Netflix announced that the documentary would feature some top sportspeople and presenters, including Robert Marawa, advocate Gerrie Nel, Shadrack Sibiya ex Hawks head and many more.

The story around Senzo Meyiwa’s death has many twists and turns.
Senzo was shot to death in an alleged robbery while he was with his girlfriend, Kelly Khumalo, at her home in Vosloorus East of Johannesburg.

Senzo died in October 2014, and he was given a state funeral in the province of KwaZulu Natal.

Everyone affected by Senzo’s death has never received closure and lives on speculation only. It is still unclear how Senzo could be killed in a house with many witnesses, but there is still no clear indication of what happened.

His father, Sam Meyiwa, suffered a fatal stroke in 2019 while trying to make sense of and get justice for Senzo’s death.

Meyiwa’s death sparked severe outrage all over the country because of the unclear details of what happened that night.

In 2021 five suspects were apprehended and implicated in the murder of Meyiwa. The trial has been set to take place on 11 April 2022. His family will be looking forward to the case to find out what happened finally.

Now eight years down the line, Netflix will attempt to reimagine the story in this five-part series.

Senzo Meyiwa joined Orlando Pirates as a goalkeeper in 2005 and joined Bafana Bafana in 2013.
The famous Soweto Derby scheduled for November 2914 was cancelled as a sign of respect after his death.

The Netflix synopsis of the story could be seen on their website, but there is a short description given for the Trailer.
“Soccer player Senzo Meyiwa was a national hero. Who did it, and why? The docuseries dives into the evidence.”

Senzo: Murder of a soccer star will go live on Netflix on 7 April 2022.
